The TPMOV 270V incorporates Mersen's patented technology to address common failure modes found in traditional metal oxide varistors. This device integrates a voltage clamping apparatus and a disconnecting mechanism that continuously monitors the metal oxide disk, ensuring reliable operation as a fail-safe component.

In the event of an overvoltage situation, an arc shield effectively disconnects the metal oxide disk from the power system. Furthermore, the TPMOV is equipped with a micro-switch that provides remote indication and a visual pin indicator to signal failure status. The device, with a surge capacity of 75 kA at 8/20μs peak surge current, operates within the same footprint and features a maximum continuous operating voltage (MCOV) range of 150V to 320VAC.

Rated for a frequency of 50/60 Hz, this model supports a maximum operating temperature of 85 °C and a minimum operating temperature of -40 °C. It has a short circuit current rating (SCCR) of 200 kA and is designed for PCB mounting. The housing is constructed from PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate), ensuring durability and reliability in various environments. The TPMOV is classified as Type 1 Component Assembly under UL standards.
