The BTA12-600CRG from STMicroelectronics is a versatile triac designed for general-purpose AC switching. It is available in through-hole or surface mount packages, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. This triac is capable of handling up to 600V and 12A, making it ideal for static relays, heating regulation, and induction motor starting circuits. Additionally, it is recommended for phase control operations in light dimmers and appliance motor speed controllers.
The BTA12-600CRG features low thermal resistance due to its clip bonding and ceramic insulation, ensuring efficient heat dissipation. It also boasts high commutation capability, making it suitable for inductive loads. The device is UL1557 certified and complies with RoHS (2011/65/EU) standards, ensuring reliability and safety in various applications.
The Snubberless™ versions of this triac are particularly recommended for use with inductive loads due to their high commutation performance. The internal ceramic pad provides an insulated tab rated at 2500V RMS, complying with UL standards. This triac also offers low holding current, making it ideal for designing light dimmers for LED lamps.
