The Class 3400 Smart Meters (H34) incorporate advanced dual protocol communications, enabling simultaneous communication with two energy monitoring systems, including Building Automation Systems (BAS) for energy monitoring and billing programs, as well as Measurement and Verification (M&V) reporting tools. The device does not include current sensors, making it suitable for applications where external sensing is utilized.

It features an advanced 4-line LCD display that offers backlighting for visibility in varying lighting conditions. Communication options include RS485 and Ethernet protocols, with a maximum operating humidity of 95% non-condensing. The device operates within a temperature range of -4 °F to 122 °F (-20 °C to 50 °C) and is compliant with ANSI C12.20 and UL/CUL regulatory standards.

While the standard configuration does not come with a modem or current sensors, an optional expanded feature package is available, which adds load control capabilities and two pulse outputs for kWh and kVARh. The Class 3400 is designed for commercial and industrial applications, providing accurate measurements with a precision of ±1% across its rated load range. Its steel enclosure type ensures durability in various operational environments. The input voltage can be configured for either 3 or 4 wire setups, and it supports both 50 Hz and 60 Hz frequencies.
