The SPD Type 2+3, 20kA is designed to effectively discharge voltage surges while ensuring a high level of voltage protection, adhering to EN/IEC 61643-11 standards. It serves as the final protection stage in electrical panels already equipped with upstream Type 2 protection devices, such as the STP T2 40 series.

With a maximum discharge current of 20kA per phase and a nominal discharge current of 10kA per phase, this device is engineered for robust surge protection. Its combined voltage pulse rating of 10kV (1.2/50μs) ensures effective handling of transient voltage events. The device operates at a nominal voltage rating of 230/277 V and features a maximum continuous operating voltage (Uc) of 320 V.

The SPD is constructed with a housing made of PA66 CT1 material, rated V-0, and is equipped with a back-up fuse rated at 63 A gG to enhance its protective capabilities. The torque rating for installation is set at 35.4 lb-in, and it provides a short circuit withstand rating (Isccr) of 25 kA, ensuring the safety and reliability of the system.

For optimal performance, installation should be as close as possible to the protected equipment, facilitating improved response times of 25 ns and combined discharge voltage of ≤1.4 kV at L-Pe. The device accommodates rigid wire sizes from 6 to 35 mm² and stranded wire sizes from 6 to 25 mm², supporting various configurations such as TT and TNS.
