Allenair, founded in 1945 by Alton K. Allen, is a manufacturer specializing in hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and rotary tables. Originally known as A. K. Allen Co., the company began by manufacturing air cylinder parts before Alton K. Allen designed a pneumatically powered rotary index table in 1947, used in ammunition plants to speed up bullet manufacturing. Allenair continued to expand its product line, designing notable innovations such as the Valve-in-Head cylinder in 1955 and the first 100% all stainless steel pneumatic cylinder in 1965 for Eastman Kodak's 35mm film slitting machines. The company has also introduced various valve lines and specialized cylinders for food applications and advanced sensing capabilities. In 2017, Allenair was acquired by Alkon Corporation and relocated to Fremont, Ohio, where it continues its tradition of designing and building high-quality, engineered-to-perform and made-to-last products, with an online configurator available for custom cylinder designs.
