The HILSCHER EU5C-SWD-PROFINET is a modular PROFINET IO-Device gateway for integrating a subordinate SmartWire-DT network into an Industrial Ethernet environment. It maps each SmartWire-DT station as an individual PROFINET slot, enabling transparent exchange of cyclic process data between both systems. This supports a clean separation of networks while keeping control and diagnostics focused on process data.
Designed for technical commissioning workflows, the gateway supports pushbutton-based SmartWire commissioning by storing the detected network configuration and comparing it against the nominal setup at each start-up. If the configurations match, communication is enabled automatically. Engineering is simplified through a modular GSDML file, allowing the PROFINET controller project to be configured with the gateway parameters and SmartWire-DT modules in the controller tool. The device is intended for applications requiring structured integration of field devices and sub-networks.
