Can In Automation (Cia)

CAN in Automation (CiA) is an international non-profit association dedicated to the advancement and promotion of Controller Area Network (CAN) technology, standardized in the ISO 11898 series. Established in 1992, CiA provides an unbiased platform for future CAN protocol developments and actively promotes CAN technology. The organization supports diverse CAN applications, ranging from road vehicles and industrial machine control to medical devices and lift control systems. CiA is highly committed to international standardization, submitting its specifications to bodies like ISO, IEC, SAE, and DIN. It offers educational opportunities through seminars and organizes the international CAN Conference (iCC), a global platform for experts to discuss CAN technology, including CAN FD and CAN XL. CiA also publishes the CAN Newsletter magazine and its online sister, and provides opportunities for members to present their CANopen and J1939 solutions at trade shows. Additionally, CiA publishes draft specification proposals for CANopen application profiles, such as those for municipal vehicles.
