LHDA

The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) manages the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP), a multi-phased initiative established by the 1986 Treaty between the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Republic of South Africa. The LHWP harnesses the Senqu/Orange River through a series of dam constructions, providing water to South Africa's Gauteng region and generating hydro-electricity for Lesotho. Phase I was completed in 2003, and Phase II is currently underway, demonstrating significant progress in infrastructure and dam capacity.
