The ABB SPAM 150 C Motor Protection Relay is a versatile multifunction relay designed for the comprehensive protection of a.c. motors. This relay is suitable for large or medium-sized three-phase motors in conventional contactor or circuit breaker controlled systems. It can also be used for the protection of feeders and transformers. The relay offers three-phase thermal overload protection, high-set overcurrent protection with instantaneous or definite time operation, and phase unbalance and single-phasing protection with inverse time characteristics. Additionally, it provides fast operating incorrect phase sequence protection, sensitive earth-fault protection with definite time characteristics, and undercurrent protection with definite time characteristics.

The SPAM 150 C relay includes several selectable motor start-up supervision methods and continuous self-supervision of hardware and software. It features a sophisticated self-supervision system with auto-diagnostics and an interface for extensive data exchange with substation level data acquisition and control systems over a fibre-optic bus. The relay is part of the SPACOM product family and ABB’s Distribution Automation system, ensuring compatibility and integration with existing systems.
